HighPoint RocketRAID 2680 8-Channel PCI-Express x4 SAS 3Gb/s RAID Controller

Disappointed, (What's this?) I bought this product to build a SAN from my home with 8x 1TB drives. I was hoping to use Openfiler or a fallback option to use Windows (XP or 2003) but I was completely disappointed with the support. Linux driver download from thier website did not work, took source code and recompiled the drive did not work either and did not recognize the card. Also, this RAID is not comparable to Adaptec 5805 which I am using now and able to build a 5.6TB RAID5 SAN. Still experimenting but way past where I was with HighPoint RAID. Tried calling thier support several times and left voicemail messages still waiting to hear from them. Well, I am keeping the card for now until all the kinks are removed from my current SAN. I will see if I can return it since it is almost a month when I bought this RAID card.
Works, (What's this?) These cards work with the 3TB 512 Bytes/sector drives in JBOD (Legacy) mode under Windows 7x64 sp1 and Server 2003x32 sp2 with latest large drive patches. You can use 2 cards together but I only see one BIOS setup so you may need help setting up RAID. These cards do NOT play well with other SATA cards. With either AOC-SASLP-MV8 or SiI 3124 controllers (which did work well with each other) the POST stalls/locks and Windows never loads. This made migration much more difficult than necessary. Since the migration the 3TB and 2TB drives behave well and speed is satisfactory at around 70 MB/s.
